Last Updated : January 14th 2002 (many VRs scrapped)
Information on this page has been deduced from physical checks of chassis numbers and body numbers. However, the exporters of these VRs saw fit to remove and in some cases swap the plates on individual vehicles, so it has been quite a challenge of logic and deduction to match vehicles with their original registrations, a task which could not have been possible without the efforts of Alex Hall, a Brit who is currently living in New York. Items such as window types, breather grilles, light clusters and internal features down to such details as the footrests at the rear of the lower saloon have all been used to prove or disprove the identity of vehicles. The final piece of evidence used to firmly identify these VRs has been the seat squabs which fortunately had the fleetnumbers of their previous owners written on the bottom. Physical checks of these have firmly identified the remaining unknown VRs. Thanks also to Dave Beardmore who made a trip to New York in early 2001 and has filled in a number of gaps in the photographs.
The VRs shown on this page were in service with Gray Line of New York, U.S.A. on the date shown above. The liveries depicted are the last known to be carried by the individual vehicles. If you know that the livery has now changed I would appreciate receiving an email or, better still, a photo which I will add to this page and credit to you. Remember - the site is only as good as the information I receive.
